What’s the Difference Between a Regular Manual Lymphatic Drainage Session and a Brazilian Lymphatic Massage? + -

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, medical-based technique designed to support the lymphatic system by encouraging the natural movement of lymph fluid. It’s ideal for post-surgery care, lymphedema, lipedema, inflammation, and detox.

Brazilian Lymphatic Massage helps reduce bloating, puffiness,
water retention, and the appearance of cellulite. This method
blends lymphatic drainage with deeper, more dynamic
techniques. While both stimulate the lymphatic system, the
Brazilian technique is more vigorous, making it popular for
aesthetic shaping and pre/post-surgical care (especially in
cosmetic procedures).

What Should I Do to Prepare Before the Session? + -

To make the most of your massage session, we recommend the following:

  • Stay well hydrated before and after your session
  • Avoid heavy meals at least 1–2 hours beforehand
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothes.
  • Use the restroom before your appointment
  • Avoid applying lotion or oils on your skin that day
  • Communicate any medical conditions, recent surgeries, or concerns with your therapist so we can adapt the session to your needs

What Should I Expect After a Lymphatic Massage Session? + -

Lymphatic massage supports your body’s natural detox process. After a session, you may experience:

  • A deep sense of relaxation or lightness
  • Increased urination or bowel movements
  • Mild tenderness or soreness, especially around lymph node areas (this usually fades within 24–48 hours)
  • Occasionally, some people may feel slightly fatigued or experience mild flu-like symptoms, which is a normal part of detoxification

To support your results, we recommend:

  • Drinking plenty of water to flush out released toxins
  • Avoiding sugar, caffeine, and alcohol for at least 24–48 hours
  • Resting as needed and listening to your body

Who Should Avoid Lymphatic Drainage Massage? + -

While Lymphatic massage is gentle and generally safe, there are certain conditions where it may not be recommended without medical clearance, speak with your health care provider in advance of your appointment.

  • Cardiac edema
  • Congestive heart failure or other serious heart conditions
  • Blood clots (DVT or risk of clotting)
  • Severe kidney disorders
  • Active infections caused by bacteria, fungi or viral infection

  • Undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy (requires a doctor’s note)

Who Should Avoid Regular Massage Therapy? + -

Massage therapy is generally safe and beneficial for most people. However, there are certain situations where massage should be avoided or modified for safety. You should avoid or consult with your doctor before receiving a massage if you have:

  • Fever or active infection
  • Skin infections, rashes, or open wounds
  • Recent surgeries (without clearance)
  • Severe osteoporosis

  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or a history of blood clots
  • Certain cancers or undergoing chemotherapy/radiation (requires doctor’s note)
  • Pregnancy in the first trimester (unless treated by a certified prenatal therapist)

Do you combine techniques in one session? + -

Each session is designed to your unique needs. While we typically focus on one primary approach — such as lymphatic, therapeutic, neuromuscular, or energetic work — we may combine techniques if it supports your healing.

For example, we might integrate cupping, Gua Sha, or myofascial release into a therapeutic or lymphatic massage.

We also work with specialized tools and machines, especially in post-surgical care, to enhance results and reduce inflammation or fibrosis.

What’s the difference between therapeutic and neuromuscular massage? + -

Therapeutic massage targets general tension and stress.

Neuromuscular massage is more clinical, focusing on chronic pain, trigger points, and muscular imbalances

Can a minor receive a massage session? + -

Yes, minors are welcome to receive massage therapy; however, they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

The adult must provide consent for the session and be present in the room at all times during the treatment.

We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for every client — including our younger ones.
